Just like most technologies, we might, at times, experience slow or freezing response on our Kindle Paperwhite. Most of the time, the solution might be very simple. If your Kindle freezes up on you, you may try these following steps.

An E-Book Won’t Open or Stops Responding

If you’re Kindle Paperwhite, while you’re reading a particular e-book or other content, stops working or starts behaving strangely, try doing a menu restart and if necessary, a hard restart might also solve the problem.

If these solutions don’t work, chances might be there that the file may be corrupted. If this is the situation, you can try and remove or delete the item to check whether that resolves the issue or not. You can note that if you have bought the book from Amazon, it can be redownloaded very easily to your device, as it will be present in the Cloud as backup. Just in case you have got the book from another source, make sure that before removing or deleting it you have a backup.

By using the following steps remove the items from your Kindle Paperwhite:

  • Tap and hold down on the item from the Home screen.
  • A pop-up menu will appear, with various options.
  • Tap the Delete the Sample option (for samples) or Remove from Device option.
  • The e-book or the sample will be deleted from your Kindle Paperwhite.
  • For 40- 45 seconds by holding and pressing the power button you can restart you’re Kindle Paperwhite (you can do the same for 7-15 seconds for a second-generation Kindle Paperwhite).

Try and read the other content to see whether the issues have cleared up or not. By choosing it from the Cloud on your Home screen you can again download the e-book from Amazon, or you can upload it onto your device from your computer.

If the device gets stuck or is working very slowly
If your Kindle Paperwhite stops working at its usual speed (works extremely slow) or gets stuck,
you can usually solve the problem by doing a hard restart or a menu restart.

If your Kindle Paperwhite Won't Restart:

  • Tap Menu→Settings.
  • Tap Menu→Restart.

(Restart will be the third item on the drop-down menu that will appear.) The start-up screen will be displayed on your Kindle and also a progress bar. After a few minutes, the device will restart itself and show the Home screen.

Fix Kindle Paperwhite Frozen Problem With Restart Your Kindle device:

For 40-45 seconds you may press and hold the power button (you can do the same for 7-15 seconds for a 2nd generation Kindle Paperwhite).

The screen will go blank.

Again try pressing the power button — just a normal press will do, as if you are putting your Kindle Paperwhite out of the sleep mode.

The start-up screen will appear with the official logo i.e. a shade of a child reading under a tree. In a few moments, the restart process will started by the device and will show a progress bar. Once that restart is done, you will see the Home screen.

If the above mentioned steps doesn’t help you much then the best option is to get in touch with the Kindle customer service or call them at Kindle technical support number. The customer support is 24*7 available and will assist you with instant solution to the Kindle issues.
